I started my working life as a commercial yield specialist before discovering that I really did not love what I was doing. After yet another three day jet-lag trip to the States - I realised that time was precious and I was not going to waste my waking life in a job that I was not passionate about.

That year, I picked up "Rich Dad Poor Dad" in Newark Airport, New and my life was never the same again. It was as though a door had been opened to a new world which I knew I had to be part of. Quickly, I realised that property was one of the doors through which I could buld my long-term wealth.

I spent time, energy and thousands of pounds on property education and decided that in order to leave my job as quickly as possible, I had to focus on a high yielding asset class - HMO's (or Houses of Multiple Occupancy as they are also known). I bought my first HMO in 2004 and was staggered by how much money we were making but also how much easier it was than everybody had told us it would be! I was in the zone and I was hooked!

But again- I’m getting ahead of myself…

You see it took me lots of practice, and very hard work to figure this stuff out. In those first three years I spent 6 days a week, 15 hours a day perfecting the HMO business model. By the middle of 2008 I had spent over 13,500 hours on making my business a systems-led automated machine. Those 3 years changed my life.

While I generated a lot of revenue during that time, I also nearly burned myself out. I therefore took some time off and handed the reins over to my property team.
